Recitals
These General Terms and Conditions of Sale are applicable to the reservation of rooms, of the cottage and to additional services carried out with Le Prieuré La Madelène. These General Terms and Conditions of Sale are effective on the date your reservation is confirmed on the various sites offering our services. They cancel and replace all general terms and conditions of sale previously posted online and / or accepted by the Guest. They are considered as having been read and accepted by the Guest when booking online or by telephone.
Length of stay
The guest signing the contract must be over 18 years of age (the legal age of adulthood established in France). They finalize the contract for the duration they determine in their reservation and may under no circumstances claim any right to maintain occupancy. Should they wish to extend their stay, this is to be carried out in consultation with the service provider subject to availability.
Minimum stay: 1 night in low season – 2 nights in medium season – 3-4 nights in high season
Finalization of Reservation contract
The guest certifies that the information they indicate in their reservation online or by phone is true and accurate. This reservation is finalized once they have paid the amount of the deposit, i.e. 30% or 50% of the total amount of the reservation, by bank card. The Guest will receive an email confirming the terms of their reservation. The balance will be payable directly at Le Prieuré La Madelène.
For any other reservations in addition to those for nights, breakfasts and dinners, which can be made online, the client will contact the provider directly by e-mail at contact[@]prieurelamadelene.com or by telephone to obtain a quote based on the services requested, e.g. for private bookings or for any other professional or private event.
Access
For security reasons related to site compliance, we are unable to accept guests with reduced mobility or children under the age of 16.
Prices and payment
The rates are the price per night for 1 to 2 guests, including breakfast.
The Tourist Tax is not included.
Payments are to be made by bank transfer or bank card when booking online and, at Le Prieuré La Madelène, by bank card, in cash or using holiday vouchers when paying the remaining balance.
Tourist Tax
The Tourist Tax is a local tax that guests must pay to the service provider, who then transfers it to the local Public Treasury department. The Tourist Tax is currently set at € tax inclusive per day and per adult (18 years old or older), for the total duration of the stay. It is to be paid by the guest upon presentation of the invoice.
Withdrawal period – Cancellation by the guest
As per article L 121-20 of the French Consumer Code, all consumers have a period of 7 days, starting from their reservation, to exercise their right of “withdrawal” without having to justify reasons, or to pay penalties, with the exception of any return costs, if applicable.
Once this 7-day period has expired, any sums paid in advance, which constitute a DEPOSIT, are subject to the conditions below:
For individuals (individual travel)
- Cancellation free of charge possible up to 31 days before arrival
- Less than 30 and 14 days: 50% of the deposit is kept
- Less than 13 days: or no-show: the stay is in its entirety.
For groups (by travel agency or tourist guide):
- Cancellation free of charge possible up to 62 days before arrival
- Less than 61 days before arrival or no-show: the stay is in its entirety.
Check-in
Guest may check in between 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
If you wish to arrive earlier or later, please specify this when booking.
Please notify us in advance in the event of a late arrival.In the absence of information or no-show before the scheduled arrival or after 7:00 p.m., the reservation will be cancelled and the room will be made available for booking. The deposit will be retained. The stay is due in full.
Check-out
Please vacate the cottage no later than 10:00 am and the bedroom no later than 10:30 am.
Breakfast service
Breakfast is served between 8:15 a.m. and 09:45 a.m (end of service 10:30 a.m).
Use of the premises
Snacks, picnics and meals are not allowed.
During their stay, the guest agrees to use the room or cottage rented to them in a reasonable manner and solely for the purposes for which the room is normally intended. The service provider may ask the customer to leave the premises without any compensation being paid to them and to pay for the entire service reserved, namely in the event of:
- behavior contrary to morality or public order
- any deterioration, damage or acts of vandalism attributable to the guest, to their employees or to persons they are responsible for during their occupation of the premises, concerning all movable or immovable property, decorative furnishings or property of any other nature present inside Le Prieuré La Madelène or its outdoor spaces.
In addition, the guest will be required to reimburse in full any damage caused by their actions. Le Prieuré La Madelène remains free to undertake all necessary measures to obtain compensation for any damage suffered.
Rental of the Cottage
The guest is to leave the cottage clean and take care of any routine cleaning and housework.
Internet access
Le Prieuré La Madelène offers free Wi-Fi internet access to its Guests throughout the hotel. The Guest undertakes not to use the computer resources made available to them for fraudulent or illegal purposes, and in particular not to commit any act of infringement of third-party rights, piracy and / or illegal downloading of items protected by copyright or any related rights, punishable under the Intellectual Property Code. The choice to use Le Prieuré La Madelène’s Wi-Fi is sole responsibility of the guest and fully waives the service provider’s liability concerning its use.
Swimming pool during vacation season
Access to the pool is allowed from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., in harmony with the occupants of the house.
The swimming pool has an alarm but swimming is not supervised. Guests may swim at their own risk and under their own responsibility. Le Prieuré La Madelène declines any liability for any falls, drowning or other dangers, and cannot be subject to any legal actions whatsoever subsequent to any such events.
We reserve the right to prohibit access to the swimming pool in the event of water quality concerns.
Non-smoking premises
For security reasons, the guest rooms, the cottage and the common rooms are all non-smoking areas.
We ask you to use the utmost care when smoking outside. Ashtrays are provided for this purpose.
Pets
Pets are not accepted on the premises due to the presence of our two cats, Micro and Macro.
Accommodation capacity
The contract is issued for a specific number of guests. Should the number of guests exceed this number or not be in accordance with the terms of the reservation, the service provider reserves the right to refuse additional guests. Such refusal can in no case be considered as a modification or a breach of the contract at the service provider’s initiative, so that in the event of the departure of a number of guests greater than the number refused, the price for the cost of the accommodation remains payable to the service provider.
However, depending on the nature of the disagreement observed, the service provider may offer an amicable solution suitable for both parties (e.g. rental of an additional room), depending on availability.
Personal data
In application of law no. 2018-493 of June 20, 2018 relating to the protection of personal data and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the guest is informed that the information provided during the reservation is subject to processing of personal data for the purposes of managing reservations and Guests, for billing and payment needs, as well as for commercial prospecting.
During their stay, the Guest may be photographed or filmed during organized events in which they participate. For commercial purposes, these photos and or films may be published on the Le Prieuré La Madelène social media sites, i.e. the website, Facebook page, Instagram page, etc. The Guest has the right to access, rectify and delete any personal data concerning them.
Guests are therefore kindly asked to notify the service provider of their refusal to be filmed or photographed during their stay. Following their stay, the guest may also exercise this right by writing to the following e-mail address: contact@prieurelamadelene.com or by sending a letter to Le Prieuré La Madelène – 1291, chemin de La Madeleine – 84340 MALAUCENE. The service provider therefore undertakes not to distribute or to delete the photos and films in which the guest appears.
Insurance
The service provider declares that they have taken out a specific policy for “Rentals at bed and breakfast/guest house and tourist accommodations” with an insurance company. The policy number and description of the guarantees can be provided to the guest on request.
The guest is responsible for all damage arising from their acts or those of the people accompanying them and under their responsibility. They must therefore check whether the insurance policy for their main residence provides for extensions for vacation rentals. The guest certifies that they are covered by a civil liability insurance policy covering their own responsibility and that of the people accompanying them.
Notwithstanding, the service provider and / or their insurance company reserve the right to hold the guest liable in the event of damages, malicious acts and / or negligence attributable to the guest and/or to the persons accompanying them.

Disputes
These General Terms and Conditions of Sale are governed by French law.
Amicable settlement of any disputes is preferred, by having the subject matter of the dispute acknowledged on the same day for immediate resolution or as soon as reasonably possible as deemed by both parties.
Should the guest make a complaint after leaving Le Prieuré La Madelène, they have 7 days to do so, either:
- by post by certified mail with proof of receipt to Le Prieuré La Madelène – 1291, chemin de La Madeleine – 84340 MALAUCENE, France
- by e-mail with read receipt to: contact[@]prieurelamadelene.com
Once this 7-day period has expired, no further complaints can be made.
If the claim is established within 7 days after the guest’s departure, Le Prieuré La Madelène will deal with it within a maximum of 14 days following this claim, to reach an amicable settlement in the best interests of the 2 parties.
Please note that after filing a claim with Le Prieuré La Madelène within 7 days, and failing a satisfactory response within 15 days, the guest can contact the Tourism and Travel Mediator, whose contact details and methods of referral can be found on its website:

Should the dispute remain unsettled, only the courts of the jurisdiction in which Le Prieuré La Madelène, the rented property, is located shall be competent.
Reminder of the General Terms and Conditions of Sale
The General Terms and Conditions of Sale are modified regularly, in particular when standards, regulations or laws are changed.
The General Terms and Conditions of Sale, including the privacy policy, the General Conditions of Site Use and, where applicable, the special conditions specific to certain offers, constitute the entire contract concluded between the guest and Le Prieuré La Madelèbe, concerning their reservation on the sites and cancel all other previous general terms and conditions of sale.
In the event that one of the stipulations herein is declared void in part or in whole, for any reason whatsoever, the other stipulations shall remain in force.
